The CIF-IFC has prepared an exciting Conference this September in Grande Prairie, Alberta, providing an opportunity for experts to present leading edge innovations and solutions.
The Conference has been designed to help communities and industry understand and gain information about the opportunities and challenges related to resource management and the required measures needed to maintain the resources and the communities (rural, urban, and Indigenous) that depend on resource use. The community of Grande Prairie is ideally located to demonstrate the activity, resource development, and associated management occurring at both local and national levels.
The Conference will take place from September 18th-20th, with two days of presentations and various social events, and one-day featuring number of concurrent field tours.
The two-day technical program will comprise over 40 dynamic speakers representing a wide variety of organizations and perspectives from across the country. This year’s Conference program features four strong pillars to encompass the Conference theme, “Sustaining Resources and Enhancing Communities: By Looking Back and Going Forward.” The four pillars are (1) Community, (2) Wildlife, (3) Site Restoration, and (4) Land Management Planning and Forest Management Planning. The technical presentations will have a national cross section of case studies and examples of plans/project implementation related to the conference pillars. The focus of the plenary talks are communication strategies amongst professionals, policy makers and the public as well as issues surrounding information-based decision making.
The program will also include professional development opportunities for current students and recent graduates through facilitated workshops and mentorship opportunities.
In addition to the detailed technical program, the Conference will include a number of networking sessions, social events (i.e. Student Quiz Bowl and Awards Banquet), and a trade show exhibition area.
