Meet & Greet Reception

Join us for a Meet & Greet Reception to kick off the first night of the
DEMO International Conference! This will be a great opportunity to connect with some familiar faces and make new connections. This reception will feature refreshments and snacks and will occur at the same time as the CIF Student Quiz Bowl. Feel free to drop in, say hello, and head over to cheer on students competing in the Quiz Bowl competition!


 

Companion Tourist Information Session

When: Tuesday September 20, 2016 from 9:00am-11:00am

Where: The Aspen Room, Four Seasons Hotel; Vancouver, BCCycle City Tours Burrard Inlet

Cost: Free!

This special tourist information session is being planned for anyone who is accompanying a DEMO International Conference delegate who is looking to find out more about the many tourist opportunities in the city. Tourism Vancouver will provide maps, brochures, and a resource person to help you plan your day around town. This is a great way to meet other companions, grab a coffee, and pick up some helpful tourist information!

This year’s annual Canadian Institute of Forestry’s (CIF) National Awards Banquet will be taking place in conjunction with the DEMO International Conference at the Four Seasons Hotel in downtown Vancouver. Please join us for a formal dinner and awards presentation where we recognize the outstanding achievements of several forestry professionals and organizations!*Note: Registration for this event is not included in the basic conference registration fee.

Join us for a chance to connect and/or re-connect with other forestry professionals and conference delegates! This event will feature refreshments and snacks and will provide a great opportunity to discuss recent innovative forestry topics raised during the technical sessions that day.


Musqueam First Nation Salmon BBQ & Cultural Performance

When: Wednesday September 21, 2016; Bus leaves at 4:45pm, returns by 10:00pm

Where: The Musqueam Community Centre; Vancouver, BC

Join us for a wild Pacific salmon barbecue dinner being hosted by the
Musqueam First Nation (People of the River Grass) at the Musqueam Community Centre! This event includes entrance to the Musqueam museum and features a traditional dance performance by the Tsa Tsu Stalqayu; also known as the Coastal Wolf Pack. The Coastal Wolf Pack is a group formed of  Musqueam families and extended family from throughout the Coast Salish Territory. They have performed songs and dances, and have shared many teachings from their culture passed on by their elders at gatherings for universities, schools, and First Nations ceremonies. One of their proudest moments was welcoming the world at the Vancouver Olympics in 2010 with traditional song and dance.
