Association of
B.C. Forest Professionals 57th AGM
The
57th AGM of the ABCFP was
in Prince George for 2005.
The CIF was present with a booth/display by the national office,
hosting a
breakfast event with Chris Lee, CIF 1st Vice-president as the
keynote speaker. Voluntary joint CIF/ABCFP membership was highlighted
by
speakers at the council “hot seat” session.
National Forestry Week
Tours
The
Cariboo Section organized tours of the Willow River Demonstration
Forest for elementary school
children in support of national forestry week. The event was supported
by the
local members of the Association of B.C. Forest Professionals. This has
become
a co-operative event with the Professional Foresters Network (PFN)
where the CIF provides the bus and arranges
the participants. The PFN is tasked with finding volunteers.
Student
Recruitment &
Career Advancement
The Cariboo Section
led a recruiting event at UNBC in
co-operation with the one of the professors (Scott Green) in the
environmental
program at UNBC. The Association of BC Forest Professionals were
invited to
participate. The event was intended to recruit student members into
both
associations early on in their program studies. This event was
successful in
terms of attendance and feedback on value. It was noted that this event
should be planned again for this
coming fall.
