| Canadian Forestry Achievement Award |
individuals who have made unique and outstanding achievements in the field of forestry. It appreciates the value of consistent exceptional contributions made over a lifetime to the field of forestry in addition to singular momentous achievements. This award has the objective of encouraging excellence in the forestry profession. |

| Canadian Forestry Scientific Achievement Award |
individuals who have made innovative and outstanding achievements in forestry research in Canada. Recognition can be for developing new practices, process, or techniques, or for demonstrating the practical applications of research in forestry. This award has the objective of encouraging innovation, exploration, application, and excellence in forest research. |

| International Forestry Achievement Award |
individuals who have made unique and outstanding contributions or achievements in international forestry. It recognizes that Canada is a world leader in the practice of forestry and appreciates the actions of individuals who have shared this leadership with other nations. It can also recognize the actions of an individual to bring nations together to better forestry practices globally. This award has the objective of encouraging excellence and cooperation in international forestry. |

| James M. Kitz Award |
individuals who make significant, unique, and outstanding contributions in the field of forestry early in their career. It is named for James M Kitz, a member of the institute and an Alberta professional forester who met a sudden and untimely death at 36 years of age. Jim established a reputation early in his career for numerous contributions to the field of forestry. This award honours those contributions and the man by recognizing individuals who exemplify his lifestyle. |

| Canadian Forest Management Group Achievement Award |
groups or teams who have made significant, unique, and outstanding contributions to forest management in Canada. It appreciates the multidisciplinary nature of forest ecosystem management by recognizing the many groups that are required to come together in the process. This award has the objective of encouraging excellence and leadership in group contribution to Canadian forest management. |

| Presidential Award | The Presidential Award is presented to individuals who have made significant or consistent outstanding contributions to the Institute through their actions in support of the Institute's mission. Specifically, they have advanced the stewardship of Canada's forest resources, they have demonstrated leadership in forestry, they have taken an active role in promoting competence among forestry professionals, and they have fostered public awareness of Canadian and international forestry issues. This award recognizes the hard work, dedication, and commitment that individuals provide in following the Institute's mission and the profession. | ||||
| Section of the Year Award | The Section of the Year Award is presented to Sections that exemplify the objects of the Institute and their dedication to implementing the strategic direction(s) identified by the National Board of Directors. They demonstrate creativity, initiative, diligence, and perseverance in implementing and reporting on their activities in support of the Institute's annual strategic direction(s) and the Institute's annual work plan. This award recognizes the many individuals that keep a Section active, that involves the membership and students, and demonstrates commitment to nationally identified goals and objectives. | ||||
| Tree of Life Award | individuals who have made superior, dedicated or particularly effective contributions to sustainable forest resource management, forest renewal or sustained yield integrated management of the forest and its intrinsic resources. (nominated by Sections) |

| Gold Medal | One Gold Medal one for each forestry baccalaureate school and one for each forestry diploma school in Canada, shall be given annually to graduating students who shall be selected by the head of the school. | ||||
|
Silver Rings are presented annually to forestry baccalaureate graduates of Canadian Institute of Forestry recognized programs from Canadian Universities and to forestry diploma graduates of recognized programs from Canadian Technical schools. |

| Honourary Members | a non-Institute member who has made outstanding contributions to the advancement of forestry | ||||
| J. Michael Waldram Memorial Model Forest Fellowship | A fellowship, valued at up to $1,000, open to all Canadian Aboriginal youth enrolled in at least their second year in either a degree or diploma program in natural resource management at a Canadian university or college. | ||||
| James S Miller Memorial Scholarship | The James S. Miller Memorial Scholarship will be awarded annually to a student in Northern Ontario who intends to pursue post-secondary education in natural resources or a related field | ||||
