In partnership with the Northern Hardwood Research Institute, Groupe Savoie and Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources, the Otter Ponds Demonstration Forest is hosting a ​full day Managing Northern Hardwoods for Value Workshop on Thursday, October 12th to showcase the latest tools and techniques for managing valuable northern hardwood species in the Acadian Forest.

Presenters will be stationed throughout the rich drumlins of Otter Ponds, demonstrating ways to manage for greater environmental, economic and social value in this diverse forest type. The topics will include:

  • NHRI’s Silviculture Prescription System
  • Log value optimization by Groupe Savoie
  • How to naturally regenerate northern hardwood species
  • How to apply NSDNR’s Forest Ecosystem Classification and Pre-Treatment Assessment to these lands.

Lunch is included and pre-registration is required.
