The speaker is Jiaxin Chen of the Forest Research and Monitoring Section. Dr. Chen will focus on his and his colleagues’ work on assessing the greenhouse gas mitigation potential of Canada’s managed forest sector. He will discuss the carbon balance of this sector in the 20th century, including carbon stock changes of managed forests, a life-cycle analysis of harvested wood products in Canada, and reduced greenhouse gas emissions from using some harvested wood products to replace other construction materials.
