CIF/IFC DEFENDS LOGGING IN ALGONQUIN PARK

The Canadian Institute of Forestry (CIF/IFC) issued a media release to address several new signs that have recently been posted along highways surrounding Algonquin Park, which state, “Logging in Algonquin Park is NOT Sustainable.” The signs are incorrect and misleading to the public. We encourage the public to seek out accurate information about logging in Algonquin Park. Forestry activities within the Park are carried out in a highly responsible and fully sustainable manner. Click here to read the media release!

CIF/IFC LETTER TO THE ONTARIO MINISTRY OF NATURAL RESOURCES

The Canadian Institute of Forestry (CIF) expresses their concern with the Ministry’s transformation plan and recent decision to remove forester positions in six of the Ministry’s southern districts. The CIF encourages the continued provision of professional forest stewardship capacity in southern Ontario and offers to engage in collaborative leadership. The people of Ontario need to be confident that their natural resources are well-managed for current and future generations. Click here to read the letter!

LETTER TO TOYS R US IN RESPONSE TO TV ADVERTISEMENT

toys r usThe CIF/IFC sent a letter to the CEO of Toys R Us, expressing concern about the company’s recent television commercial and its implied message of nature and outdoor education not being interesting or fun for children. Click here to read the letter.
