April 17, 2019 | Rocky Mountain Section Technical Workshop

The CIF-IFC Rocky Mountain Section is hosting a technical workshop for managers and practitioners looking to increase their knowledge and understanding of UAV’s (Drones) and Terrestrial Laser Scanners and their applications to enhance and improve sustainable forest and natural resource management.

The CIF-IFC Rocky Mountain Section  hosted a technical workshop for practitioners interested in expanding their understanding of wildfire and learning how to account for fire in their management of forest lands to sustain resilient forests, industries and communities.

May 11, 2017 |  Rocky Mountain Section Spring Workshop and  Annual General Meeting

The Rocky Mountain Section will be hosting a  spring workshop entitled “Alberta’s Silviculture Evolved”.  The workshop will highlight and update classic silviculture subjects such as site preparation and herbicide use, spotlight the innovation that has arisen in the industry in the past few years, and  also wider and current application of silviculture in relation to reclamation of industrial sites. The Rocky Mountain Section AGM will follow.

December 14, 2016 | Successful Technical Session! Conference posters now available!

The Rocky Mountain House Section put on another highly successful technical session entitled “Seismic Line Restoration”. The session was well attended with between 150 and 160 participants. Natural Resources Canada was a major contributor to the event.

This is a technical session co-organized NRCan and the CIF Rocky Mountain Section. The goal of this session is to facilitate discussion and provide updated information on current land-use planning, policy, research and strategies surrounding development and reclamation of seismic lines in Alberta’s boreal forest.
