The CIF-IFC Rocky Mountain Section will be hosting a technical workshop for practitioners interested in expanding their understanding of wildfire and learning how to account for fire in their management of forest lands to sustain resilient forests, industries and communities.

May 11, 2017 |  Rocky Mountain Section Spring Workshop and  Annual General Meeting

The Rocky Mountain Section will be hosting a  spring workshop entitled “Alberta’s Silviculture Evolved”.  The workshop will highlight and update classic silviculture subjects such as site preparation and herbicide use, spotlight the innovation that has arisen in the industry in the past few years, and  also wider and current application of silviculture in relation to reclamation of industrial sites. The Rocky Mountain Section AGM will follow.

 

December 1, 2016 | Seismic Line Restoration Technical Session

This is a technical session co-organized NRCan and the CIF Rocky Mountain Section. The goal of this session is to facilitate discussion and provide updated information on current land-use planning, policy, research and strategies surrounding development and reclamation of seismic lines in Alberta’s boreal forest.

April 27, 2016 | Genomics Demystified

The Canadian Institute of Forestry’s Rocky Mountain Section is co-hosting a workshop with the University of Alberta and the Foothills Research Institute called “Genomics Demystified” on April 27, 2016. This workshop will provide participants with a working knowledge of genetics, genomics and molecular biology. Examples of how these technologies are being used – or could be used – to address pressing future challenges will also be given.
