The CIF Vacouver Island Section is supporting the following intitative. We recommend all of our members have a look at the website and consider becoming involved.
Healthy forests-Healthy communities; A conversation on BC forests
A volunteer initiative designed to catalyze discussion, dialogue and debate in order to provide the most current information, perspectives and analyses conducted by leadersfrom the various forest land interests; and, to provide public comments on provincial and regional issues related to achieving a forest lands vision.

- Dr. Eric Allen CFS entomologist and expert on invasive species, who spoke on the subject of "Alien Invaders” in our environment;
- Janice Larson the Director of the Bioenergy Renewable Branch of the BC Ministry of Energy, Mines, and Petroleum Resources, , who spoke on wood bioenergy in BC;
- Dr. Mike Meagher retired CFS researcher who led a walking tour of a Garry oak ecosystem in Victoria's Mill Hill Park.
