Algonquin Park Pre-Conference Tour
Coordinated by the Algonquin Forestry Authority, the Algonquin Park Pre-Conference Tour will take place on Friday, October 4 and Saturday, October 5, 2019. Participants will visit various sites in Algonquin Park, a local mill and processing yard, as well as view a variety of silvicultural management systems including single-tree and shelterwood.
- Cost - $150.00 per person. Registration fee includes transportation and bag lunches. Accommodations and dinners are not included.
- Transportation - Depart/return to Pembroke Best Western Hotel.
Both in-conference tours below are included in full conference & day-pass registrations. Groups will alternate between the two field tours on Tuesday, Oct 8 & Wednesday, Oct 9. Participants will be randomly placed in field tour groups and receive information on which group they are in closer to the Conference date.
Lunch is provided for each tour.

Petawawa Research Forest Tour
100 Years of Forest Research Innovation and Adaptation
For the past century, The Petawawa Research Forest has established itself as a living laboratory committed to long-term research. Since its inception, the PRF has created an irreplaceable legacy of research that has influenced forestry practices both nationally and internationally through some 2000 experiments and demonstrations. Join staff and collaborative experts for an afternoon in the field to explore some exciting and informative research projects at the PRF!
Renfrew County Tour
Participants will visit various sites including Shaw Woods Outdoor Education Centre, Renfrew County Forest and Lavern Heideman & Sons Mill.
Nipissing Forest Post-Conference Tour
The Nipissing Forest Post-Conference Tour will take place on Wednesday, October 9 to Friday, October 11, 2019. Participants will visit study sites in the Nipissing Forest and tour local mills in the area, with overnight accommodations and meals provided at the Canadian Ecology Centre (CEC) in the Samuel de Champlain Provincial Park.
|$400.00 per person or $500 couples rate||Registration fee includes two nights in CEC cabins, six meals, and in-tour transportation.|
