Understanding the Operational Challenges of Operating Equipment in a Diverse Range of Forest Soil Conditions in Alberta

The CIF Rocky Mountain Section is hosting a spring technical session!

The CIF RMS Section AGM and Quiz Bowl will be hosted in conjunction with the technical session.

The Technical Session will focus on the increasing array of challenges forestry encounters in choosing and operating equipment across an increasingly diverse range of soils, terrain, and climatic conditions. The emphasis will be on how soils limit machine productivity and operability and overcoming the soil limitation. The presentations by experts from academia, industry and government will allow the forestry industry at all levels to better understand the operational challenges encountered in day-to-day operations and planning.

Online registration available below –  Closer to the event date, you will receive information on how to join the online platform. Deadline to register is Friday, April 11, 2023 at 12pm (Mountain Time).

The registration fee for Non-Members attending in-person includes a one-year CIF membership. By becoming a member, you are part of a national network of forest practitioners that advocate for forests and all those who work in and with forests, at the regional, national and international level. A membership allows you to be part of a community of like-minded individuals who are passionate about forests and the environment.

2023 CIF-RMS Annual General Meeting

The 2023 CIF-RMS AGM will be conducted over the lunch hour (12 noon to 1:30 pm) at the Technical Session on Thursday, April 13, 2023. Zoom meeting link will be emailed to all members.

Return of the RMS Quiz Bowl!

You’re invited to stay after the Technical Session to have some refreshments and witness the return of the RMS Quiz Bowl! U of A and NAIT forestry students will face off to win the coveted RMS Quiz Bowl. Other teams are welcome to join the competition. Email rms.cif@gmail.com if you want to enter a team!
