CIF is proud to be a sponsor of commemorative bench that serves to mark the efforts and role of the Newfoundland Forestry Corps in the First World War as well as the Newfoundland Overseas Forestry Unit in the Second World War.
Both of these organizations comprised of young and old foresters/loggers volunteered to work in the forests overseas to assist in the production of lumber and mining pit props. Many of which stayed in the UK after the wars to help with forest regeneration.
While the bench will complement the site, it will also offer a place to sit in recognition of the forestry connection to both War efforts!
