ALGONQUIN
About The Section
Section Algonquin
The Algonquin Section was founded in 1964 and sits in in the heart of the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Forest in Central Ontario. We are a welcoming bunch of people and our professional backgrounds are diverse, just like the Great Lakes-St Lawrence Forests.
Nos objectifs
- To improve all aspects of forestry in the Section.
- To foster public understanding of forestry, forests and forest industry including their importance to the economy and their role in the maintenance and improvements of environmental quality.
- To advance members in their knowledge of forestry.
- To cultivate an esprit de corps among members.
- To cooperate with other organizations having similar objectives.
Ce que nous faisons
Our core annual activities include several social events, supporting the Algonquin College Forestry Program, supporting the National CIF office deliver programs, and providing a network for our members. We often collaborate with other organizations such as post-secondary schools, local Sustainable Forest Licence Holders, the Ontario Woodlot Association, the Friends of the Petawawa Research Forest, and others. Anyone with questions or interest in the Section would be welcome to contact one of our council members.
Membres du Conseil
The Section, listed below, is headed by an annually elected council that plans meetings, field trips, and social affairs for the members and answers inquiries from the public. Our current council is comprised of practitioners at all stages of their professional careers and covers academia, private consulting, private industry, and not-for-profit organizations.
We welcome your comments, suggestions, and help. If you would like to see changes or want to volunteer for an activity, please contact one of the executive members.
