On behalf of the Section executive council, I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to the graduating students of the Confederation College and Lakehead University Forestry and Environmental programs. I would also like to thank our generous sponsors and donors, along with the student and CIF members who volunteered their time and support to put on the 2023 Ring Ceremony.

This weekend’s event hosted over 170 people including students, family, friends, industry, government and local business partners and sponsors, along with faculty and staff from both schools. All of whom helped celebrate the 65 students’ hard work and accomplishments, welcoming them to their budding careers in forest and the environment.

Saturday afternoon (March 18, 2023) was full of smiles and cheers, laughs, great food, warm toasts from our guest speakers and also a chance for alum and fellow CIF members to catch up, tell stories, and meet the newest cohort coming into the profession.

On behalf of the Northwestern Ontario Section Executive Committee, I would like to thank everyone who supported the students through their schooling, and those that could make the event this weekend. I hope you might join me in congratulating the students on a job well done and the best on their next steps.
