Annual Chili Cookoff
Happy Halloween!
Last week, the Natural Resources Student Society teamed up with the Northwestern Ontario section of the CIF to host the annual Chili Cookoff! A social gathering and fundraising event where students from both the Confederation College and Lakehead NRM compete against their teachers and forest professionals, to create the ultimate, and highly coveted, best chili!
We had over 80 people join us, tasting and voting on 16 different, delicious chilis; from vegetarian, vegan, several traditional style chilis, to ones with wild game, like grouse and moose meat chili. Each year, a ‘Best Chili Name’ and ‘Best Chili’ are voted for by all. This year, Best Named chili went to our section director, Brian C. who’s unfortunate luck on the way to the event, inspired and nabbed his “Spilli” the title. And the Best Chili this year went to Matteo V. and Owen B. for their moose meat recipe. Congratulations to the winners!
A huge thank you to everyone who came out to the event and to all who entered chilis. We hope you all had a great time and thanks to you, we raised over $300 that will be donated to this year’s charity, the Lakehead University Food Resource Center.
