About The Forestry Chronicle
The Canadian Institute of Forestry/Institut forestier du Canada (CIF-IFC) has published The Forestry Chronicle, a professional and scientific forestry journal since 1925. In 2017, the Chronicle switched from print issues to open access publishing, allowing the journal to be made available to any reader without any financial or technical barriers. It is an online-only distribution, that is not available in print, which increases opportunities for authors, including all-colour pages, links to biographies, other work, videos, or GIFS. E-first finalized manuscripts were initiated in mid-2020, allowing papers to be published immediately upon final acceptance on the journal website without the delay of waiting for an entire issue to be published. Authors retain copyright to their work, and all articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0).
The Forestry Chronicle is published to provide information to forest practitioners about professional and scientific management of forests and their resources. The Forestry Chronicle provides forest practitioners in Canada and around the world with a means to communicate with their peers in the professional community.

Open Access Statement
The Forestry Chronicle is an open access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This is in accordance with the BOAI definition of open access.
About The Editor in Chief
Dr. Ronald D. Ayling holds a PhD in Forest Sciences from the Australian National University. His area of research focuses on plant physiology, and the effects of growth hormones and herbicides on plant growth and physiological processes. He has had more than 30 years of experience in international development – identifying and implementing projects in agriculture and agroforestry for Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC) as well as the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).

Aim
The aim of the journal is to publish, in either English or French, research, practical applications, and perspectives on social and natural sciences that are relevant to Canadian forests and forestry.
Mission
The Forestry Chronicle is a peer-reviewed, open access journal published by the Canadian Institute of Forestry to provide information to forest practitioners and the forest research community on the professional and scientific management of forests, their resources, and the ecosystem services they provide.
Scope
The journal is inclusive of all subject areas, geographies, and forest types, including urban environments, plantations, and natural forests where findings are relevant to Canadian forests and forestry. Economic, environmental, and social factors are all within the scope of the journal, and integrated approaches to management are encouraged. Subjects include but are not limited to biology, economics, policy, silviculture, technology development and applications, operational advancements, and Indigenous perspectives and knowledge. The journal welcomes a diversity of perspectives including professionals, experts, Indigenous knowledge holders, researchers, and students who wish to present the outcomes of innovation in managing forest resources. Contributions may include traditional research and professional articles, short papers, reviews, and perspectives. The likely impact on policy, practice, and social outcomes as well as novelty and advancement of knowledge will be considered in the decision to publish.
